Leander ISD will be starting the 8th grade Human Sexuality Curriculum presentations from Austin Life Guard (see schedule below). There will be two informational workshops for parents to attend that covers the classroom presentations at the middle schools.
- Wednesday, April 22 at 6:30 pm at Canyon Ridge MS cafeteria
- Wednesday, April 29 at 6:30 pm at Stiles MS library
This opportunity is designed to give parents helpful tips for communicating with their children about human sexuality, allow them to review the district curriculum, explore statistics from health officials and ask questions of Austin Life Guard and LISD staff. Austin Lifeguard presentations are given to students grades 7-9.

1. Participation in the human sexuality curriculum is voluntary. Parents or legal guardians have the ability to "opt out" their student from the lesson by returning the form attached to the parent letter or with written request. Notification letters will be provided for parents two weeks prior to the lesson.
2. Parents or legal guardians will be provided an opportunity to preview the curriculum documents and teaching materials. Contact your student's teacher, guidance counselor or Ray Langlois, firstname.lastname@example.org, at the district office for information about this process.
